If you’ve ever dreamt of running in a big open field with a thousand puppies – and we know you have – your dreams have just come true at Costa Rica’s Land of the Strays.
Locally known as Territorio de Zaguates, Land of the Strays is a privately funded, volunteer-run organization that takes care of about 900 dogs in a sprawling mountain setting. The dogs are washed, fed, played with, and encouraged to roam freely, with indoor housing options to lounge and sleep in. But the best part about Land of the Strays is that guests can come visit and enjoy the dogs as much as they want – feed them, run with them, etc – and if they fall in love with 1 (or 2, or 10) they can adopt it (them) and bring it (them) home!
If all dogs go to heaven then this is heaven for dog lovers. Learn more about Land of the Strays here.
