Is there anything better than being able to purchase an alcoholic beverage and play your favorite childhood video games all in one place? That’s the basic concept behind the latest American bar trend — the Barcade. 16-Bit Bar+Arcade, Ohio’s answer to the current craze sweeping the country’s nostalgia imbibing twenty & thirty-something crowd, offers two locations to get your game on throughout the state.
With current locations in Columbus and Cleveland, the owners plan to open their Cincinnati site in the coming months. Each location offers around 35 different arcade games, with additional pinball machines.
And the best part of it all — No Quarters Needed. At 16-Bit, as long as you’re drinking, all arcade games are free (50¢ per pinball machine). For those non-alcoholic drinkers, a mocktail menu is offered as well.
While no food is served, guests are welcomed to bring or order in their own eats to accompany the bar’s 24 craft beers on tap, canned beers, and eclectic cocktails named after your favorite 80’s and 90’s pop icons.
16-Bit offers a great alternative to the standard drunken night on the town. If you find yourself in Ohio with nothing to do, 16-Bit is the place to drink and play. Just remember to not be a game hog. Arcade etiquette lives on in 2015.
