There’s been buzz ever since the Ace team made it public that the historic United Artists building in Downtown LA,was the latest destination for one of their hotels. Now, with it’s opening last week, the internet is a flutter with check-ins and tweets about the newest Ace Hotel in Downtown LA.
Built in the ornate maverick film studio from 1927, the hotel chain’s latest property features 182 guest rooms, a restaurant and bar and a stunning theatre renovated to seat 1,600 guests. The in-house design team collaborated with Commune Design and Chicago based architects GREC, to strip down the building back to it’s concrete and then restore the intricate designs.
Inside, the hotel has 1927-themed, original artwork, hipster touches and artisan furniture. The adjoining theatre will serve as an event space, with the first public event on February 14th featuring Spiritualized. But don’t get too pumped, word is, it’s already sold out.
